My preferred idea generation technique is day dreaming, I do this by having music on in my room and just day dream. I like this technique because it allows my ideas to flow and it allows my mind to wander all over the place.
My preferred way of thinking of ideas is to get calm and relax, allow my brain to think, and start day dreaming and use my imagination. Sometime this work but sometimes ideas just start popping up when I'm not thinking or when i get inspired by something or someone.
My idea generation techniques varies, but I tend to write anything/everything that interests me or comes into my head. I think this technique is free association. At times when something comes to my head, I'll act on it, but when something else comes to my head, I'll forget about the earlier one and act on the current one.
My preferred idea generation technique is mainly daydreaming. When I'm given something to design, I usually lie down and just think through every single possibility I can come up with, right before sleeping. However, the only time I write something down is after I go through hundreds of possibilities in my head, and choosing something that would satisfy most of the ideas. Although this did give me decent ideas and conserved a bit of time, I would often spend hours after hours at night, thinking, and wouldn't be able to sleep until I found a good solution.
My preferred idea generation would be communicating with various kinds of people, mainly because I personally think I lack creativity, so if I try to think of ideas by myself alone in a room, I think I won't be able to do it. What I mean by this communication is playing, relaxing and talking any topics which pops up to my mind without thinking. Later when I'm alone, I would write down the ideas as much as I remember.
My preferred idea generation would be sitting in a room full of junk. I would look through the things and think of ways that I could use the item. Another way would be to just sit down in a calm environment, preferably a place with a lot of nature, and just jot down or draw random things and ideas.
Daydreaming because i find it hard to come up with ideas under pressure, and many of my "brilliant" ideas come to me at the most random times. I also love o just sit and do nothing at certain time, which is a good time to have an idea come too me.
Probably day dreaming because it allows me to open up my mind without the fear of being judged by people. Also, I can daydream anywhere. It doesn't matter if I'm at school in the middle of class or at home doing chores. I also like the idea of getting ideas when they come to me, instead of having to set aside time each day where I have to come up with something in a certain amount of time. Also, I always have a notebook with me that I can write my ideas in. So whenever I come up with an idea, I will be able to remember it later.
The way I prefer to think of ideas is to go into a pool, sink to the bottom, and clear my head.
