  1. The first gap in the market is affordable shoes for children. One competing solution are the inexpensive shoes at local stores. The other gap in the market is sturdy shoes. There aren't any identified solutions in the market.

Competing solutions to the gap we're aiming for are other souvenirs in the local market that appeal to the costumers with its representation/reminders of Cambodia. However, there aren't any that are costumizable nor flexible to different uses.

One market gap would be electric lamps against our candle-lit lamp. People might prefer to buy an electric lamp versus our lamp because it will give off more light and the whole electric lamp market has many more designs than we do, even if we have hundreds of designs on our coconuts. Solutions are the care put into hand-making the candle-lit lamps, the fact that our candle is better for the environments. Another solution is that we could use different candles, such as those that are scented, smoke-free, etc,.

  4. The gap in the market is handmade, recycled candles. The competing solution are the coconut candles being sold at local markets and David’s coconut candle/lamp.
