Session 1 .............
Session 2 .............
Zach Wilson, IS
DeleteSession 1: I learned that one method does not work for all entrepreneurs and that the BOSI Quad was created out of a want to find methods that worked for different types of entrepreneurs. There are four different main types of entrepreneurs.
Session 2: Innovators care about getting their product or service out to people as their number one goal. They often prefer to have others run the bussiness aspect of their company.
Session 3: Innovators keep people energized and often make sure their workers have a fair pay. Innovators should find people with Builder, Specialist and Oppurtunist DNA to help advise them in decision making.
Session 4: This last session is mainly about how to continue an entrepreneurship carreer and includes ideas like purchasing the book "Entreprenurial DNA", consulting with different entreprenurial advisors, and trying something called the "Excellerator Process"

Xin Yu Yeo: DNAe “SB”
Session 1: From this session I learned that my DNA’s characteristics tend to be more methodical and systematic. It’s more about process and infrastructure. But I also found out that my type also struggles with pride and ego. Which I find somewhat true about me, but not entirely. I also learned that BOSI DNA pops up when facing decision making, and it guides us. The DNAs are a reflection of the individuals.
Session 2: This session went into more details about my primary DNA - which is the Specialist DNA. In the video it mentions that specialists like to be their own boss. They are analytical individuals and hesitant - think things through slowly. Their strengths is their focus, drive, and expertise. They make their business unique by great service and are great at building long term relationships. Weaknesses of being a specialist would be that always having the same methods in mind as others. It would be difficult to stand out among other competitors. I would agree with a lot of the point made in the video and how I can relate and see myself thinking in those ways and following those methods.
Session 3: This session was listing three optimisations. 1) Corporate strategy - plan for next few years (maximum potential). To remind or rethink goals of why we started the business. 2) Business Development Engine - is to take care of development and make generating business is not 100% of us especially when that is not our strengths so that we can do what we like and let experts do what they know best. 3) Find opportunities to work on business than in it - I am not very sure what this means. But I think it’s something about finding leverage and using it to our advantage. To create some sort of group with a mix of opportunists and builders.
Session 4: This last session was just a conclusion.

ReplyDeleteSession 1: From this session, I learned that the BOSI DNA traits tend to pop out whenever decisions are being made. I also learned that my eDNA, BI, happens to be a mix of two extremes and make me "bounce back and forth" between those two traits when I make decisions. It said while the DNA can perfectly describe me at one point in your life, the things I learn as I live life will affect it.
ReplyDeleteSession 2: The first thing that came into my mind after Joe Abraham described Builder's working habit was that I had experienced those exact feelings during almost every single group projects I've had over the years. I was amazed at how accurate the Builder DNA described me. I also found out, however, that both the Innovator and Specialist also described many aspects of my life as well.
Session 3: Session three listed 3 things I had to optimize. First, I needed a management team. During the talk about this, he advised me to teach the people in my team about my bosi profile in order to gain loyalty and forgiveness from them. Secondly, I needed a pure group team of people with the Builder DNA, mainly for advice. And lastly, I needed a mastermind group to obtain new ideas. One thing it cautioned me about was that I had to have a work-life balance. We talked about the two distinct "modes" in class today and I found myself completely agreeing with those ideas and needing to work hard to find a balance.
Session 4: It says to erm... buy the book?

ReplyDeleteEntrepreneurship - Notes on Videos

eDNA: "SB"
Session 1: In this video, I learned about the history of BOSI and how it came to be. I also learned, with the help of BOSI, it is easier to place one self in the world. I learn about how my dominant DNA, specialist, tend to be more systematic. I also found out about how with my dominant DNA, I can struggle with things like pride and ego. This led me think about how BOSI can actually be very accurate about the people who possesses any of the BOSI DNA.
Session 2: The second video gives me more information about my entrepreneurial DNA. The video talks about how specialists wants to be their own owners and earn a healthy income, while having a long term business. I also learned that a specialists' frustration is to stand out in the crowd. I also learned that I will compare myself to others and will use traditional advertising to help my business, but I can overcome my competitors by having good service. In order to have a successful business, specialists should hire builders because builders tend to boost and help specialists move forward.
Session 3: The third video was talking about the three optimisations for a specialist. The first one, cooperate strategy, talks about if a specialist is trying to have a long term or a short term business and are they going to sell the company or keep it longer. The second one, business development engine, talks about how specialists are frustrated with business development and should hire experts or people who love business development do the job for them. It also talks about how specialists should look around the world for workers. The third one, find opportunities to work in the business than in it, talks about how specialist should focus on strategic planning. They should make/have a group that has a blend of the BOSI DNA, because it balances things.
Session 4: The last video was a conclusion, but BOSI is actually really interesting.

Session 1: Session one taught how BOSI came about. It educated me on the importance of knowing your entrepreneurial DNA. I also realized that our BOSI DNA does not only just appear in making entrepreneurial decisions but rather it is involved in every decision we make. It a reflection of who we are. I also learned that my secondary DNA, the specialist, results in me wanted to accomplish tasks in a systematic way. However, it can also result to a struggle with pride and ego.
Session 2: This session taught me more about my primary DNA, the builder. It made aware of the positive and negative sides to my entrepreneurial DNA. I found that a lot of the points Joe Abraham made in this session were true in my life. This video was helpful in getting me to realize why i sometimes act the way i do. It also showed me how my secondary can help with the negative side to having a builder DNA
Session 3: This session listed three optimizations that i would need. 1) I would need a management team. 2) I should let the people in my team know about my BOSI DNA. 3) I need a group of people with pure Builder DNA
Session 4: This session was just a conclusion

ReplyDeleteSESSION 1-I learned about how entrepreneurial DNA was created, that entrepreneurs are different because of BOSI. I also learned about the characteristics of each eDNA. It shows that BOSI DNA pops up whenever the decision is made and where someone is in the BOSI quadrant, it decides who they are, what type of people to work with etc. I learned that my eDNA is systematic and like employees.
SESSION 2-It talks about pure form of a specialist, the advantages such as great service and weaknesses such as follow other competitors. It focuses on secondary eDNA which we should always be aware of. The strengths of each secondary DNA are mentioned, along with the recommended things they would need. Having builder as my secondary eDNA, i learned that multi-location enterprise is my strength and that personal training would be needed.
SESSION 3-It was about three optimisations for entrepreneur with a primary specialist DNA. They are co-operate strategy, business development engine and strategic planning, which is all about planning, having a team with a good blend of eDNA and reseting a goal.
SESSION 4-It concludes the video by giving extra sources where you can find more about the eDNA and ways to improve the business significantly.

ReplyDeleteSession 1-i learned that everyone has at least two different types of BOSI DNA and that each pair has a very different characteristics. For example a person with a BO or OB DNA would be in multiple industries and would build his business up from the bottom to the top. Another example is it if a person have a IO or OI DNA, that person would be extremely creative but they work best if they were to work with themselves. When a person is confronted with a decision that needs deciding, they tempted to decide on one decision but still want to pick the other making it hard for them to decide.
Session 2- In session two, I learned about the I DNA. I learned that they can be very smart, creative, very inventive, and has empathy for others. With strengths comes weaknesses and 1 of their weakness is that they will find an opportunity for something but will lose it because he didn't go for it. I learned that work can sometimes push them to their breaking point making them hard to work with in a group so the best thing for them is to let some else run the company for you.
Session 3- i learned that the best thing for the I's is for them to have an adviser team to help them in decision makings. They would usually have family members in their company working with them because they can trust them. There is also the risk that their family members can back stab you and go for other company. Another best thing for the I's is that they should build a three year long plan that can be a strategic plan or a financial plan.
Session 4- Session 4 is just about visiting the BOSI site and to buy their book.
Sorry for sending this in late.

ReplyDeleteSession 1-Session mostly talked about how the BOSI came about. Session one also taught how that not all registries will work the same for different companies but there are some rare cases where that is possible. It also talked about how each entrepreneur had a primary eDNA and a secondary eDNA. It talked abut the different types of eDNA. It also emphasize on the fact that when making decisions your BOSI profile will pop up. Overall I learned mostly about the BOSI profile and the key characteristics of each eDNA.
Session 2-Session two taught me about my primary DNA which was the Builder DNA. I learned that the Builder DNA will usually have successful businesses and that they prefer to start a company from the ground up or from scratch. In the Builder DNA there are strengths and weaknesses as well. It also taught me that the Builder DNA is usually a born leader. Overall this video reflected almost exactly who I am and I learned that my secondary DNA can help my primary Builder DNA.
Session 3-Session three taught me how i should choose the team that will satisfy me and how I should run my team. For example it taught me a management team that has similar DNA as mine and if they aren't I should teach them about my DNA. It taught me that I should choose advisers who have the BO or the OB DNA. It also taught me that I should find a way to properly balance my work life with my life so that I have time for both.
Session 4-Session four was talking how we should buy the book and it basically concludes the other three videos.
Sorry turning it in late.

every entrepreneur is different
“SO” is most popular BOSI profile
95% of people have two DNAs
secondary DNA pops up once in awhile
sessionTwo
innovator DNA has creativity
innovator DNA: not good at business management
“IO” DNA has an unlimited capacity for creative ideas
sessionThree
advisory board is to help think through decisions
shouldn’t have friends or family as advisory board

Session 1- I learned about how the BOSI DNA quadrant was discovered, and the questions that led up to that. I learned that BOSI was in fact discovered by accident.I learned that the top quadrant letters typically have more than one business venture and Have the bigger businesses (more well known). i learned that the bottom quadrant typically build small, stable businesses, that last for a long time. i learned that the left quadrant normally has people who are very methodical or systematic in their approach to building a business. The right hand quadrant has people that are more creative, and disorganized- opposite to the left hand quadrant. cross quadrant entrepreneurs have to compensate for their weaknesses- their DNA's are opposites.
ReplyDeleteSession 2- I learned that builders start up businesses with winning records. Builders can do everything fairly effortlessly, and that their "jedi mind tricks" are able to convince people to work extra hours. Builders burn employees, and relationships fast , but are given leaders. Builders that have opportunist DNA have a "daring side," and can be TOO optimistic.Top quadrant is all in for BIG picture, BIG vision, and FULL throttle... which brings out risk.
Session 3- I learned that a management team will bring joy to the heart of a builder, but most builders don't have one. An advisory/pier group is healthy, especially if they have different BOSI DNA's. Builders need to come up with a good work-life balance, because without it Business will be useless, and will control your life.
Session 4- Tlls us to buy the pook, and raps it up

ReplyDelete- Session 1: Session one mainly talked about how the BOSI system will benefit you and your business. It talked about how with BOSI, you can approach networking and business differently because BOSI gives a different approach/perspective to things. Also it said that your BOSI dna comes from who you are personally, and that is why everyone is different. Also, I learned that your BOSI dna comes up every time you make a decision. So if you observe your situation carefully, you will probably see that your BOSI dna is showing up.
- Session 2: Session 2 was mostly about the Builder dna. I learned that Builders like to start businesses from the ground up. Also, when they are involved in a business, they will stay in the business for the long term and they will continue to use their strategies to help it grow. Builders are natural born leaders. In this video, it really helped me learn about my primary dna. And now I think I can understand myself better.
- Session 3: Session 3 taught me to ask myself about my ideas and my future business. It talked about questions like "Am I energized to take my company to the maximum level?" I think that if I ask myself this question regularly when I am starting my idea, it can help me stay on track and motivated to keep my business going. The main piece of advice that I got from this video is that if you deal with highly credible resources, you can be successful. This basically means that if I work with resources or people that really know what they're doing, then you will be successful.
- Session 4: This session was basically a conclusion of the three videos and it talks about the book.

ReplyDeleteSession 1: All entrepreneurs are different, but some have similar eDNA. BO like exciting offer. SI have stable business. BS are methodical and have great relationship with employees, but they struggle with their ego and pride. OI are creative and like to do things alone. People with cross DNA are likely to have little disadvantage in them.
Session 2: Opportunists are optimistic. They have hard time saying no to making money and do repetitive business. They enjoy personal development and have passion for selling and promoting. They can't focus on one business.
Session 3: Try to commit to one business until it's successful. Find a builder or specialist to help you weaknesses, someone who could put you focus. Find a couch with BS DNA to help you.
Session 4: conclusion of everything.

ReplyDeleteSession 1-I learned about how entrepreneurial DNA was made, and also they explained that all the entrepreneurs are different from each other due to their BOSI profile. Session 2- session 2 explains about the primary form of a specialist. They explain the weaknesses and what they should be aware of. Also the strengths of each secondary DNAs are mentioned to explain what we need. I learned that I am really creative and really good at keeping constant relationship with other people. They also mentions that I am good with services and products to satisfy customers.
Session 3- session 3 explains about the 3 optimisations for entrepreneur with primary specialists DNA. It supports that they are really good developing business engine, strategic planning, co-operating. They also mentions that entrepreneurs with I’s love to have family members where they can trust and give work.
Session 4- Session 4 is where the video gives more information about how entrepreneurs can develop and how to improve the business. And some extra sources for eDNAs they provide.
